I discovered this answer by taking the difference between all the 
numbers given, which were 8, 6, 2, and 4. It became obvious that 
the pattern was that a number is the sum of the two numbers that 
folow it. (4+2=6, 2+6=8, etc.). i then found that I had to simply 
add 6 and 8 to get 14 and then subtract that from the first 
number (48). Therefore, the answer is 34.
