Kinda neat solution bravo! 120, 123, 129, 141, 147, 159, 174, ____ ******** 177 ***************************************************** The answer is 177. The pattern is actually two series of every other number. The first series goes 120 (+9) 129 (+18) 147 (+27) 174 {the number after the blank would be 174 + 36}. The second series adds 18 every time 123 (+18) 141 (+18) 159 so the next number would be 18 more than 159 so it is 177. Class5/6 - we think the answer is 192 because of the pattern of increases. 120,123,129,141,147,159,174,____ here is how we solved it. The increases are 1, +3 up one 6, (3+3+3+3)+(3) up one 2, 3+3 double 7, (3+3+3+3)+(3+3) double 3, 3+3+3+3 double 4, 3+3 half 5, 3+3+3+3 double Class 5/6 Percy Merry P.S. - Milton, Ontario, Canada Marc Lindstrom Queen Elizabeth High School - Sept-Iles, Québec, Canada Cameron Hartnett Lexington Elem - Lexington S,C United States arya alishahi, leonard sun highlands elementry - saugus, ca united states ******** 204 ***************************************************** Here again the problem comes after the half... what to do next. 120, 123, 129, 141, 147, 159, 174, ____ ******** 204 ***************************************************** Here at Percy Merry we think the answer is 204 becouse of the pattern of increases. 120,123,129,141,147,159,174,____ here is how we solved it. The increases are 1, +3 up one 6, 3+3+3+3+3 (15) up one 2, 3+3 double 7, 3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3 (30 ) 3, 3+3+3+3 double double 4, 3+3 half 5, 3+3+3+3 double By Kimberley gr.5/6 Percy Merry P.S. - Milton, Ontario , Canada Grant and Dan Gladys Spers P.S. - Oakville,Ontario Joe Davis - Grade 6 Wylie Middle School - Dexter, Michigan USA Grant Johnston Gladys Spers P.S Oakville,Ontario ******** 195 ***************************************************** OK not bad but I don't think that the next number "had" to be 6 120, 123, 129, 141, 147, 159, 174, ____ ******** 195 ***************************************************** Elizabeth Early, Holly Cheek, Emily Shea Beck Brookstone School - Coulmbus, Georgia Samad and grant Meridian Niddle School - Buffalo Grove, IL,United States Racquel Frazier Highlands Elementary, Saugus, USA, I took the differences of all the number so those numbers were 3, 6, 12, 6, 12, 15. Then I took their differences and thoise numbers were 3, 6, 6, 6, 3. So the next number had to be 6. Then I did 6+15 because 15 was the difference between 159 and 174. Then the sum of 6=15 was 21 so I added 21 to 174 because 174 was the last number in the pattern. That was 195. That's how I solved the equation. Thank you for reading it. I think the answer is 195,because you add 120 , 123 , 129 , 141 , 147 , 159 , 174 , 195 +3 +6 +12 +6 +12 +15 +21 +3 +6 -6 +6 +3 +6 There for our answer is 195.
